Dr. Hitomi Taguchi is a Certified Life and Career Coach with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Waseda University in Japan.

She served as the first female tenure‐track faculty in the Chemical Engineering department at the University of Rochester (New York) and studied electric‐field‐based technologies to address challenges in solar fuels and energy storage devices. During this time, she created a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) program to share the importance and excitement of leading‐edge science to students who were not interested in pursuing science as their future career. She also worked with professors in the Deaf and Hard‐of‐Hearing (D/HH) community to offer more research training opportunities to the D/HH scholars.

In 2019, she moved to San Diego, California, and transitioned her career into the biotech sector and served as the primary client‐facing business development manager for a biotech equipment service company. She nurtured relationships and engaged in negotiations with her clients that included facility directors, accountants, lawyers, and C‐level executives.

Currently, Dr. Taguchi works as a self‐employed professional coach to help people get unstuck and live their life with purpose, motivation, and fulfillment. She is also passionate about supporting women in science, and has volunteered in various non‐profit organizations including Association for Women in Science, Women in Bio, and BE WiSE (an educational program organized by a local Science Center for young women in science and engineering).
