Miriam Erickson is the Senior Counsel for Advocacy and Government Relations for the Association for Women in Science (AWIS). She is an attorney with extensive experience in energy, environmental law and policy.  

Her work experience includes the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; Senior Counsel and Director at the American Gas Association; and Majority Counsel for the US House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce. She is President of her consulting firm; is the Director of Government Relations for Brown, Williams, Moorhead & Quinn, and Senior Advisor for Responsible Robotics. She received a certificate in the Women’s Leadership Program from the Oxford University Said School of Business. 

She actively advances the presence of women and girls in the STEM professions. Her activities include being a Board member of the non-profit Achievement Rewards for College Scientists, which funds research for PhD students in the sciences.  She has guest lectured on Women in Science and advocacy for scientists at Johns Hopkins University, the U.S. State Department, New York University, George Mason University, Georgetown University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Miriam holds a BA from the University of California at Berkeley, studies in urban planning at the University of Pennsylvania, and her Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
